Those living in the Thamesmead Community and your friends would be most welcome to come to the event and have a go at orienteering. You do not need to enter in advance; just turn up at The Nest Building between 10:00 and 11:30 on the 20th. There will be full guidance as to what to do when you arrive and there is no charge. You will receive a detailed orienteering map of part of the Estate, printed on waterproof paper and which you keep afterwards, and we will give you an electronic finger which you will use to register your successful visit to each of the checkpoints. There are two videos available here which will give you an idea of what you will be doing. Bring a compass if you have one otherwise we will lend you one - but you may not need it if you know the Estate well! We very much look forward to seeing you on the day.

Safety Notes

Behaviour and etiquette
Canning Town is a densely populated area and you will encounter pedestrians, cyclists and dog walkers on your run. Please be respectful at all times and give way to the local residents. Canning Town is a fantastic place for an urban event and any anti-social behaviour will jeopardise our ability to host an event here again.

We have carried out an extensive risk assessment however please be aware that when you are running, your safety is your responsibility. A first aid kit will be available at the event centre with a first-aid trained club member in attendance at the Event Centre. Please do not attend the event if you or a member of your household has COVID-19 symptoms. You must adhere to the British Orienteering Participant Code of Conduct.
