What does this mean?

Local events are usually low key and in the 'localised' area, ideal for newcomers to try the sport and Training events are non competitive and used for training and coaching, aimed at members of the club, but they can attract people from neighbouring clubs, and are often ideal for newcomers to try the sport. Regional events attract participants from around the local Region, National events are high quality competitions that will attract people from far away, Major events are Major Events such as a British Championships. Virtual events are where there are no physical controls being used. Your presence at a control is registered using an App on your mobile phone, normally the free MapRun6 App.

Wick Woodland is mainly forested whereas Mabley Green visited by the Long Course is largely open parkland.

Directions / Parking

The event centre will be the rooftop terrace at The Lord Napier Star in Hackney Wick at 25 White Post Lane, London E9 5ER. There is cover provided under which bags can be left at your responsibility.

It is less than one minute walk from Hackney Wick station which is one stop and 3 mins from Stratford station with a train every 8 minutes.

The threatened tube strikes have been called off.

Pre-event Details

Map / Terrain

The map is 1:4000 drawn to ISSprOm 2019-2 specification prepared for the event by combining new maps of Mabley Green and Wick Woodland.

Course Information

There will be two courses, a short of about 2.5k and a long of about 5k both measured as straight line distances. The long course contains 2 timed out sections (max 1 minute) between the two areas used.

Winning time is expected to be 20-25 mins.

Seniors £5, Juniors £3

Additional £2 for any Senior that is not a member of British Orienteering

Electronic chip hire is £1 for standard and £2.50 for contactless punching (lost cards £30/£65 respectively)
