City of London Weekend

Regional level event

What does this mean?

Local events are usually low key and in the 'localised' area, ideal for newcomers to try the sport and Training events are non competitive and used for training and coaching, aimed at members of the club, but they can attract people from neighbouring clubs, and are often ideal for newcomers to try the sport. Regional events attract participants from around the local Region, National events are high quality competitions that will attract people from far away, Major events are Major Events such as a British Championships. Virtual events are where there are no physical controls being used. Your presence at a control is registered using an App on your mobile phone, normally the free MapRun6 App.

Registration and Start times

The event centre at Decathlon opens at 16:15

Both Decathlon and Southwark Park close at 20:00. All competitors must have left Decathlon by 19:50 so please select a start time block to ensure that you will achieve this.

It is a 800m walk from Decathlon to the start and from the finish. The start and finish are close to each other. Clothing can be left in an area near the finish at the competitor's responsibility.

Start times are from 17:00 to 18:45. Please select your 15 minute start time block preference when you enter. We are allowing starts as late as possible within the constraints of the above closing times but please do not select the last start time block if you are able to get to the area in time to start earlier. This will be appreciated by those travelling to the event after work on Friday.

Courses will close very promptly at 19:30 and controls will start to be collected in at that time with a sweep around the park so that all controls have been collected by 19:50 ahead of the park closing time.

Facilities

There are toilets at the event centre, a large area to leave kit and separate partitioned areas for men and women to change. Please do not change in the toilets.

There are no refreshments at Decathlon but there are plenty of places in the Surrey Quays Shopping Centre nearby

Decathlon stays open until 8pm on a Friday night selling a wide range of sports and activities clothing, footwear etc. Management will of course welcome purchases from orienteers.

Dog restrictions

Sorry no dogs allowed on the courses at this event but they can be brought to the start and kept there whilst someone runs
