What does this mean?

Local events are usually low key and in the 'localised' area, ideal for newcomers to try the sport and Training events are non competitive and used for training and coaching, aimed at members of the club, but they can attract people from neighbouring clubs, and are often ideal for newcomers to try the sport. Regional events attract participants from around the local Region, National events are high quality competitions that will attract people from far away, Major events are Major Events such as a British Championships. Virtual events are where there are no physical controls being used. Your presence at a control is registered using an App on your mobile phone, normally the free MapRun6 App.

Pre-event Details

Map / Terrain

The map is an orienteering map of Leybourne Lakes and a map showing primarily the roads and footpaths in the area of Larkfield being used for the event.

The map is at 1:7,500 printed on waterproof single sided A4 paper

Three controls are on lamp posts. A "P" has been added to the map so that you can see exactly where the control is relative to the surrounding roads.

Course Information

Courses :

Suitable for all abilities. Mass start 19.30hrs. 60 minute score event.

Twenty two controls in total made up of two sets of eleven controls (all of the 10s and 20s and 120 and 220). Visit as many controls in the set of eleven in any order, before switching to the second set. Each control between 10 and 29 is worth 10 points. Control 120 in the 10's set and control 220 in the 20's set are each worth 20 points making a maximum score of 240 points available.

Course closes 20.30hrs. A penalty of 10 points will be deducted for each minute or part minute you are late back.

Equipment: This event will use the MapRun app so a mobile phone will be required.

The course is pin code protected until you arrive at the event.

The start is the same as the finish and both are about a five minute walk from the car which is our Event Centre on Chaucer Way. We will leave for the start in Leybourne Lakes Country Park at 19:20 so please don't be late.

Pre-entry only (no entry at the event) online through www.racesignup.co.uk . Entries close at 16:00hrs on day of event.

Fees :
BOF Seniors £6, Non-BOF Senior £8 and Juniors £3.

SI hire £1 (lost cards £30) and SIAC hire £2.50 (lost cards £65)

Mass start at 19.30hrs.

Please arrive in good time to allow for the 5 minute walk to the start.

Après-O : Registration in advance and online only. Apres-O will be at the Bricklayers Arms, 440 New Hythe Lane, Aylesford ME20 6SA. There is in-house Indian dining called the Spice House. Orders can be taken in the pub after the event. View the Menu here.
