What does this mean?
Local events are usually low key and in the 'localised' area, ideal for newcomers to try the sport and Training events are non competitive and used for training and coaching, aimed at members of the club, but they can attract people from neighbouring clubs, and are often ideal for newcomers to try the sport. Regional events attract participants from around the local Region, National events are high quality competitions that will attract people from far away, Major events are Major Events such as a British Championships. Virtual events are where there are no physical controls being used. Your presence at a control is registered using an App on your mobile phone, normally the free MapRun6 App.

Overview
Dartford Orienteers invite you to an event aimed at newcomers in this attractive park with a stream flowing through its centre. Guidance on what to do will be provided both in advance and on the day.
We are offering a range of Line courses and a 60 minute Score course so there's a course suitable for all ages and levels of experience.
We have a few more maps so are keeping entries open for anyone still wanting to come along. Please enter via Racesignup though before you leave home to come to the event.

Leafield Lane, off North Cray Road (A223) when heading towards Bexley.
Pre-event Details
Map / Terrain
Open meadows with small pockets of woodland and the River Cray flowing through the middle of the area.
Course Information
Yellow 2.0km
Controls (checkpoints) are very easy to find, mostly on paths, ideal for younger children and complete beginners.
Orange 3.0km
Controls are on or near paths with some route choice. Good for progressing juniors and adults who are reasonably confident reading a map.
Green 4.5km
Controls are away from paths giving more navigational challenge. Suitable for those with some experience.
Score
30 controls. Visit as many controls as you can in an hour. Controls are in 3 sets with numbers in the 60's, 70's and 80's. Start with any set, do as many within that set as you choose in any order then move on to one of the other two sets. No return to a set after you leave it.
All course lengths are approximate currently and will be as measured in straight lines. Actual distance travelled will be greater.

Groups are welcome. Enter the name of one person in the group only and add +x (e.g. +2 for a group of 3 people) to the surname for other members to the group. Only one entry is needed and we issue one map to the group unless there happens to be spare maps on the day on that course

Dog restrictions
Dogs are allowed but must be on a short lead on the course
