What does this mean?

Local events are usually low key and in the 'localised' area, ideal for newcomers to try the sport and Training events are non competitive and used for training and coaching, aimed at members of the club, but they can attract people from neighbouring clubs, and are often ideal for newcomers to try the sport. Regional events attract participants from around the local Region, National events are high quality competitions that will attract people from far away, Major events are Major Events such as a British Championships. Pre-event Details

Map / Terrain

The area includes Burgess Park and a small amount of the urban surroundings.

A music festival is being held in the park on Saturday and Sunday after the event. The set up is expected to have been completed by Friday evening. The festival uses a particular part of the park which will have temporary fencing erected around it and hence be out of bounds to orienteers. There is plenty of space in the park to accommodate both activities without compromising to any great extent the opportunities for good orienteering courses.

Registration and Start times

The event centre at Trinity College Centre, Newent Close, London SE15 6EF opens at 16:15

Burgess Park closes at 20:00. All competitors must have left by 19:30 so please select a start time block to ensure that you will achieve this.

It is a 400m walk from Trinity Centre to the start and from the finish. The start and finish are close to each other.

Start times are from 17:00 to 18:45. Please select your 15 minute start time block preference when you enter. We are allowing starts as late as possible within the constraints of the above closing times but please do not select the last start time block if you are able to get to the area in time to start earlier. This will be appreciated by those travelling to the event after work on Friday.

Courses will close very promptly at 19:30 and controls will start to be collected in at that time with a sweep around the park so that all controls have been collected by 19:50 ahead of the park closing time.

Facilities

There are toilets at the Event Centre, a large area to leave kit and a separate area for ladies changing but this is only available until 6:50pm.

There are no refreshments at the Event Centre but there are plenty of places to eat in the Elephant and Castle area.

Dog restrictions

Sorry, no dogs allowed on the courses at this event but they can be brought to the start and kept there whilst someone runs
