Details of each option

1 60 minute Score event

Print the map of the course

Download the App MapRunF to your mobile phone then within the App, go to UK, then Kent and select Dartford Summer Series 2020 and the event called Leybourne. You then need to add in the code that was sent to you in the email from DFOK on Wednesday 10 June to access the event as we are running it as a closed event for club members and a few selected others. Once done, press Go to Start and the map should appear.

If you haven’t received the email and would like to participate, please contact This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. for the 4 digit code you will need for this option.

All controls in the Country Park are on paths or very close to paths. But in some cases there may be a more direct non-path route choice. Most controls in the urban area are on footpaths, with a few at road junctions and one postbox.

This event crosses busy roads hence the area outside the park must not be attempted by anyone under the age of 16, even if they would be accompanied by an adult. However, there are plenty of controls to find within the park and these have the highest points score for juniors. Juniors will also get an additional bonus of an extra half of their points score to compensate for having fewer controls to go for.

The control descriptions are here but they are all obvious from the map so you probably do not need to take these with you.

There is a penalty of 10 points for each minute or part of a minute late back.

2 Score event in Leybourne Lakes Country Park

Print the map of the course.

This option uses the permanent orienteering posts in the Country Park. It does not use the MapRunF App. Record you own time and ideally do a GPS trace on your watch to records your visit to the controls. This can be uploaded to routegadget on the DFOK website. Alternatively, or if you do not have a GPS watch, you can draw the route you went into routegadget. Under both options, add your time.

If you will be drawing your route manually then you should use the start/finish near Tesco. If you will be uploading a GPS track then you can start anywhere on the course.

Ensure social distancing is maintained at all times. In line with current Government guidance, members are to complete these courses alone, within a household group, or with one person from outside their household from whom they must stay two metres apart at all times. The main path north and east of the start can get quite busy at times so allow time to let others pass you or leave the path momentarily where it is feasible to do so.
