Park Race Series
Local level event
What does this mean?
Local events are usually low key and in the 'localised' area, ideal for newcomers to try the sport and Training events are non competitive and used for training and coaching, aimed at members of the club, but they can attract people from neighbouring clubs, and are often ideal for newcomers to try the sport. Regional events attract participants from around the local Region, National events are high quality competitions that will attract people from far away, Major events are Major Events such as a British Championships. Virtual events are where there are no physical controls being used. Your presence at a control is registered using an App on your mobile phone, normally the free MapRun6 App.

Report
Firstly I have to apologise that control 53, which was number 3 on each course, was positioned further west than was shown on the map. It was a long way from the Start and Finish so took time to be repositioned so many of you will have spent a lot of time looking for this control and this would have detracted from your run. You'll see in the results that the legs to and from control 53 have been removed.
That aside, I hope you enjoyed the courses provided. Lesnes Abbey is a surprisingly tricky area to run in and it is easy to get disoriented as the woods are so dark.
My thanks are due to everyone at DFOK who helped on the evening but especially to my wife Tina and sons Luke and Jake, Richard Bostock, Philip Craven, Andrew Evans, Geoff Goodwin and John Tzanetis. Thanks are also due to the Abbey Arms pub for hosting us and providing such a spacious area for us to use.

Map / Terrain
Here is a link to two short videos which should give you a good idea of what you'll be doing https://www.dfok.co.uk/schools...
The area had an extensive path network. Whilst controls are either on paths or not far off them, some of the smaller paths are quite overgrown hence the wearing of shorts is not recommended.
The area is hilly. Expect about 100m climb on the Short course and almost 200m climb on the Long course.
The map is 1:5000 to ISOM specification printed on waterproof paper. Contour interval is 5m.
Loose controls descriptions will be available at the Start
