Well done to everyone. I was very impressed with all the newcomers, most of whom got all the easy and the moderately hard controls. If you’re planning on going again, or have been a few times, please do consider joining an orienteering club. DFOK members receive a first year discount so the whole family can join for only £9. Benefits include keeping you informed of orienteering events, offer coaching and give you equipment advice – such as what shoes to wear to get you up and down slippery North Downs slopes. I’ll be emailing DFOK members with that advice in the next few days. Junior courses normally stay off slippy routes, but several juniors did so well they had time to tackle the slopes.

We also need members to help with our expenses such as the £100 needed to replace today’s vandalized control. You can join online on the British Orienteering website www.britishorienteering.org.uk (click on "new to orienteering") or just email John Lewis, our membership secretary: newcomers@dfok.co.uk.

Well done to today’s winner Geoff. I think that is his first win. Also some really impressive times from Holly Page and Angus Harrington amongst others.

One thumb compass was lost (it has a black thumbstrap). If you’ve found one please let me know.

Thanks to all the DFOK members who helped – Roger, Roy, Pete, John, Dave, Dave and Geoff. Hope to see all of you again soon.
