DFOK NW Kent Orienteering Series

Event 4: Jubilee Country Park

11th September, 2010

Provisional Results

* Dibbed 90 instead of finish. 1 point and 30 second penalty applied

Dear all,

Thank you very much for coming to the event. Sorry about the confusing instructions and dodgy control positions. In mitigation, this was the first event I have organised! I do hope you still enjoyed it.

To clear up the confusion, the aim was to complete any series (60s, 70s, 80s) in any order and then earn a bonus point by coming back for control 90; repeating for the second series; then completing the 3rd series and ending with the finish control (which a couple of people failed to punch). There was no penalty for missing 90 or doing them in the wrong order (but no bonus was then awarded for getting control 90). A 1 point penalty was applied for every minute (or part-minute) over 45.

Congratulations to today’s winners, Neil, Sarah, Rowan and Emily! Also congratulations to the five experienced gents that scored maximum 22 points which would have meant covering 6.5-7km by the most efficient route. I was equally impressed to see some complete novices getting well into double figures, well done.

My thanks in particular to Dave Cave and John Lewis for setting things up and also to Sean Cronin for organising the series. Thanks also to the many people that helped collect controls (including Dave, Dave, Sarah, Chris, Neil + others)

The next event in the NW Kent Series is at Shooters Hill on Saturday 16th October, hope to see you there.
