North West Kent League: Event 1. Foots Cray Meadows.

It was a very enjoyable event to plan and organise, helped by the brilliant weather. The mass start score format is about the easiest format to organise, taking about half as much time to organise as a typical Kent Orienteering League event – so perfect for small events aimed those living locally. This didn’t stop some of you being very competitive and putting in some good times. Andy Pitcher ensured a narrow DFOK victory, but further down the field Helene Jordan scored 17 points in only her second event, and Holly Page scored 16 points, 6 more than her age class.

The idea behind the results board was that you could see what position you came straight away. Unfortunately too many got 19 or 20, so it didn’t really work! At the next NW Kent event at Danson Park, you will need to run over 7 km to get all 20, so this may not be such a problem. Most of you will still get between 10 and 20 points though.

I’ve also posted league scores separately. I thought it best to split into men, women and juniors as this gave 3 equal sections.
