Organiser's Comments It was good to see a fairly high turnout for the event. Congratulations to MV for winning the 2001 frolics series and so the London Bus trophy and the other prizes. Well done also to SLOW for finishing as the runners up this year. Thanks are due to everyone who helped with this event and to Bexley Council for allowing us to use the area. Dylan Underhill (DFOK) Planner's Comments The main challenge was trying to plan a light green course with enough technical difficulty whilst keeping clear of the areas of wood where the nettles were high. From the comments afterwards I seemed to achieve this for many of you, although there were a couple of legs where route choice made a difference to the vegetation level encountered. Apologies to the competitor who was thrown by the penultimate control on the light green course being described as an earthbank rather than an earthwall. We also had one control towards the end of the event moved from within the northern-most copse. Thanks are due to John Butler for locating it promptly and sacrificing his run to replace it before our patrolling team reached it. It was good to see several youngsters on the courses, although they were not to everyone's satisfaction. "I didn't find any teddy bears today" was one comment received! Planners be warned! Please note: The results have now been updated (on 29.8.01) to reinstate the 4 runners who appeared unclassified in the original results because of missing number 7, a control that was vandalised. The overall Frolics series results for 2001 were not effected by this . We apologise for any confusion. |
