Route Choice

Usually on a leg, the planner will introduce a choice of route to the control. It may be a choice between going straight or taking the tracks. So a formula for route choice is usually which way is the safest, not necessarily the fastest as the safer option can save time in the long run.

Remember: Take as long as you need in the start to figure out route choice. The more time you spend on it now the better you will at deciding when you’re more experienced.

Accepting the path route is best as there is a choice of three routes each offering something slightly different.

Eastmost is a fast track with no climb.

Middle route is a good path but with some clomb to the top of the hill.

Westmost not so much climb but on a less distinct path.

Which would you choose?
