Club Championships

Last updated: Thu 19 Oct 2023

The annual Club Championships are usually held in late September or early October at a nearby district event.

This year (2023) we are planning to use the HAVOC event at Epping Forest South West on October 1st for the championships. The courses planned are White, Yellow, Orange, Light Green, Green, Blue and Brown.

In order to get everyone together, we are suggesting everyone enters in the 1100 - 1130 time slot then gather afterwards at the nearby Queen Elizabeth pub for post race analysis, chat, and results. If you can let me (David Lobley) know if you expect to make it to the Queen Elizabeth I'll get a table booked.
Good luck all, and lets hope for a super well attended and super competitive Club Champs.

If you want to enter the Club Championships, make sure you enter the appropriate course. There's a table below where you can see your category. You can also elect to "run up" i.e. compete in a different age class with a longer course to the course allocated to your own age class e.g a W65 can run a Green or a Blue course (but not Brown as there is no female age category on that course). If you want to have a run, but not enter the Champs, that's no problem - it's a normal district event with colour coded courses so just enter whatever course you want.

Everyone is welcome. There are no pre-required standards or anything like that and there are a number of different categories. If you're new to the British Orienteering age class system and are in any doubt feel free to ask. The emphasis for the day will be for everyone to have a fun day out!

1 M20, M21, M35 and M40 Brown
2 W20, W21, W35, M18, M45, M50 and M55 Blue
3 W18, W40+ and M60+ Green
4 M75+, W65+ Short Green
5 M/W16 Light Green
6 M/W14- Orange
7 M/W12- Yellow

There are engraved commemorative shields awarded to the winners (male and female) for each course in the championships - these will be presented at the AGM.
