Catching Features

Control 5 is a shallow gully junction. The catching feature is the ditch beyond.

These are obvious features e.g. a track that lies beyond the control.

It means you can run hard past the control as you know it will "catch" you from going further.

Catching features are usually present on easier courses however the planner tries to avoid these being present in more technical courses.

Remember: A catching feature is an obvious feature beyond the control.
