What does this mean?

Local events are usually low key and in the 'localised' area, ideal for newcomers to try the sport and Training events are non competitive and used for training and coaching, aimed at members of the club, but they can attract people from neighbouring clubs, and are often ideal for newcomers to try the sport. Regional events attract participants from around the local Region, National events are high quality competitions that will attract people from far away, Major events are Major Events such as a British Championships. Virtual events are where there are no physical controls being used. Your presence at a control is registered using an App on your mobile phone, normally the free MapRun6 App.

Overview

An opportunity to get active in this historic area with a choice of three courses to suit all ages. You will experience the fun of navigating your way round a course visiting the sites. You will hear a bleep on your mobile phone when you reach each checkpoint on the course. A whole family activity!

There is no charge and no need to register in advance. Just turn up to the entrance to the Market for a new walking (or jogging, running!) experience using up to date technology.

Map / Terrain

This is a Find Your Way activity using the MapRun App and with a hard copy map of the area. You choose your own route between the little visited and impressive historical sites on the Gravesend Riverside and in the surrounding area. There is an information leaflet produced by Gravesham LB which you can collect at the start to add interest to your walk.

The launch event is on this date but the walk is able to be used from this date onwards, 24/7

Course Information

Three courses as follows:

A: a short course ca 1.5km which keeps to the Riverside

B: a medium course ca 3km which includes all the historical sites on the Riverside and a few others in the town centre

C: A longer course ca 6km. This visits all the sites on the medium course and sites further from the town centre such as the Nuclear Bunker and a hill with excellent views over the Thames Estuary

A hard copy the map of each course will be provided on the day for use in conjunction with the MapRun6 App.

Entry Details

There is no charge for this activity.

Download the free MapRun App before you arrive if possible and add your details to register. This can also be done when you arrive for the activity using 4G.

There will be a QR code to scan for the course of your choice which will enable you to add the course into the App when you arrive at the Market.

Registration and Start times

Registration is open from 10:30 until 12:00 at the entrance to the indoor Market off High Street at DA11 0LZ. Look for the tall light blue Find Your Way sail banner.

Full guidance will be provided then start when you are ready to go up to 12:00.

Facilities

Parking is available at nearby public car parks. The closest to the Market is St George's Shopping Centre with the car park entrance located on Bath Street. The charge is £2 for up to 4 hours. Pay on exit with coins, card or via the RingGo App

There are toilets on the lower (street) level on the northern side of the St George's Shopping Centre. No charge. Follow the signs.

There is an abundance of cafes and restaurant nearby.

Dog restrictions

Dogs are allowed at this activity but please keep them under close control on a short lead
