Local level event

What does this mean?

Local events are usually low key and in the 'localised' area, ideal for newcomers to try the sport and Training events are non competitive and used for training and coaching, aimed at members of the club, but they can attract people from neighbouring clubs, and are often ideal for newcomers to try the sport. Regional events attract participants from around the local Region, National events are high quality competitions that will attract people from far away, Major events are Major Events such as a British Championships. Virtual events are where there are no physical controls being used. Your presence at a control is registered using an App on your mobile phone, normally the free MapRun6 App.

Pre-event Details

Map / Terrain


Mainly open park and with small areas of forest. Large attractive lake at the centre and a grand mansion known as Danson House with excellent views across the main lake and park from its cafe. Danson Stables, which also serves food, was built in the 1700's and has recently been refurbished.

Course Information

Yellow 2.3km

Controls (checkpoints) are very easy to find, mostly on paths, ideal for younger children and complete beginners.

Orange 3.0km

Controls are on or near paths with some route choice. Good for progressing juniors and adults who are reasonably confident reading a map.

Green 4.2km

Controls are away from paths giving more navigational challenge. Suitable for those with some experience.

Score

30 controls. Visit as many controls as you can in an hour. Controls are in 3 sets with numbers in the 60's, 70's and 80's. Start with any set, do as many within that set as you choose in any order then move on to one of the other two sets. No return to a set after you leave it.

All course lengths are approximate currently and will be as measured in straight lines. Actual distance travelled will be greater.

Groups are welcome. Enter the name of one person in the group only and add +x (e.g. +2 for a group of 3 people) to the surname for other members to the group. Only one entry is needed and we issue one map to the group unless there happens to be spare maps on the day on that course

Facilities

There are three food options within the park.

A) A kiosk adjacent to the playground selling snacks and drinks.

B) Fleur de The, offering lunch/brunch, home made cakes, traditional teas and specialty coffee. There are tables both inside and outside Danson House. Booking is advisable but not essential https://www.fleurdethe.co.uk

There are toilets in two locations, both close to the entrance road leading into the parking areas, one either side of Danson House.

First aid provided by a qualified club member with a first aid kit on a largely self help basis if feasible

Dog restrictions

Dogs permitted on the courses if kept under close control on a short lead
