1 Score event in Foots Cray Meadows and Bexley streets
A 60 minute score event.
Print the map of the course. This is a detailed Orienteering map using an updated map of the meadows, combined with a Street O map.
Download the App MapRunF to your mobile phone then within the App, go to UK, then London South East and select Bexley and the event called Foots Cray & Bexley. Once done, press Go to Start and the map should appear. Click here for Guidance on how to use the App.
There are ten controls inside the Meadows. All controls in the urban area are either post boxes or path ends. The control descriptions are here. There are 30 controls of 20 points each. There is a penalty of 10 points for each minute or part of a minute late back.
2 Line course in Foots Cray Meadows
Print the map of the course.
This option also uses a detailed Orienteering map. It is a line course approx. 3.3km, also on the MaprunF App. The course is called Foots Cray Junior. Start and finish are in the same place as the Score Course, near to Leafield Lane. Please download the App as above.
In line with current Government guidance, members are to complete these courses alone, within a household group, or with one person from outside their household and ensure social distancing is maintained at all times.
The Score event crosses busy roads hence must not be attempted by anyone under the age of 16, even if they would be accompanied by an adult.
As with all street orienteering events please take care crossing roads. There are many suitable crossing points on all the major roads in the area.
Note the start and finish this week are separated, on both courses, as a few competitors have had problems getting the App to start. The finish is at the eastern end of the same vegetation where the start is at the western end.
Please use recognised crossing points (bridges) to cross the river/stream in Foots Cray Meadows and be aware of possible horse riders on bridle paths.
This Challenge is not an organised event or activity, so it is not registered with British Orienteering and you are not covered by British Orienteering's insurance. You do the Challenge as an individual for personal training and you are responsible for both your own safety and the safety of others around you.
