Kent Junior Orienteering Festival
There were some excellent runs from a very varied group of participants including the Hackney squad, Maxime Pesenti’s birthday party group and some newcomers, all of whom did very well. There was good feedback on the courses too.
It was excellent to see everyone staying afterwards for the prize giving. I am sure this was helped by the face painting, colouring and numerous other activities going on as part of the Family Fun Day. There were certainly some interesting faces on medal winners so the photos may be different from most other events! A summary of the winners in each year group is below. This will be added to the Kent Junior Orienteering Roll of Honour off past winners on the DFOK website very shortly.
Thanks are due to Tony Connellan, Heather Brown and the several DFOK members who assisted with the putting on of the event. But without you it would have been pointless so a big thank you to every one of you for coming and making it an enjoyable event for me to be involved with.

South East Relays 2017
Sunday 18 June 2017 saw the SE Relays being run by Southdowns at Capite Wood near Dial Posts in West Sussex. DFOK entered two teams; one in the men’s open and one in the women’s open, with good performances all round. The main challenge on the day was dealing with the 30 degree heat. A lot of the teams, us included, spent most of the time around the edge of the assembly field trying to keep cool in the shade of the trees.
